I’ve been hearing left and right about how it’s already a day before Christmas and they don’t feel Christmas yet. If you are one of them then you are one of the reasons God prompted me today to write this message.

Babies are cute… Jesus was no exception. Until you realize that this baby was different. No, He didn’t have that Halo you see painted in pictures. It was this: Some babies were born to become presidents, some to be king, some to be workers, some to be fathers, some to be priests/pastors but this baby was born to die. How ironic isn’t it? About 2047 years ago, a baby was born with the purpose of dying.

Can you give me just a few minutes? Don’t think about anything but this…

It was all His choice! He didn’t have to die but He chose to anyway. Actually, everything that happened in His human life was His choice.

  • He could have been born in a palace but he chose to be born in a dirty manger
  • He could have come as a conqueror with his army of angels but he chose to come as a fragile baby
  • He could have been born a son to a royal family but He chose to be a born to a carpenter’s family
  • He could have simply created a better you but He wanted specifically you.

All these could have made His human life and mission easier but He chose to be born to die for you. Why? because He loves you.

That is the meaning of Christmas…

Philippians 2:6-7 “God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

It’s not about that Christmas tree nor the number of gifts under it. its not about how good your food is during Noche buena nor the # of parties you get invited to. It’s not the getting together with relatives coming home (although its nice to celebrate Christmas with loved ones) and not the gifts you give. Regardless of whether 2014 was your best year or your worst it does not change the meaning of Christmas – GOD CAME TO EARTH FOR YOU!

If you can’t feel Christmas then it means you haven’t been spending time with Jesus… and In case you still have not realized, because of Christmas, you have won more than the high stake lottery! (According to Wikipedia it’s the Sorteo Extraordinario de Navidad where the pot money has reached USD941.8M in 2012). Guess what? Regardless of how high this pot gets you only get to enjoy this money during your limited time on earth. You cannot take a single cent of it to eternity. What Christmas gave you is not only house and lot in heaven which all the golds and diamonds on earth cannot buy and its available for both the rich and the poor but also the PRIVILEGE OF LIVING IN IT! Isn’t that worth celebrating?
Christmas is under attack all over the world. Will you allow it to be degraded in your hearts?

Christmas is under attack all over the world. Will you allow it to be degraded in your hearts?

“Christmas” has already been under attack around the world including the US where employees are supposed to greet customers with “Happy Holidays” instead to show respect to other religions like jews and muslims. I’ve just read today that a school in Montana is facing a possible lawsuit for including christmas songs like Joy to world during their Christmas concert – how sad. Will you allow Christmas to be compromised among Christian’s hearts as well including yours?

Let’s all celebrate Christmas shall we? If you can’t feel Christmas it means you’re been focusing on the wrong things… Take a second to reflect and check your heart. Have you really allowed Jesus to sit on his rightful throne as Lord of your life? Yes? 100% of your life? Then say a prayer thanking him for choosing to come for you.

“Jesus, Thank you. I admit I’ve been looking at the wrong places searching for the life’s meaning when I you were there in my heart all along. Thank you for what you did 2047 years ago. You loved me so much you chose to be born to die for me. Allowing me the privilege of being able to someday walk heavens with You. Please take control of my life — be not only my savior but my Lord. From now on I will follow you and share this Joy to people around me. Happy Birthday Jesus. Amen.”
